Essex & Kent Motorsport are pleased to announce that their driver and double TCR UK champion Lewis Kent has been selected by Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing as one of their Junior Drivers for 2022.
There have been six drivers selected for this programme, four who will be competing in Rallying and two drivers from TCR of which Lewis is one.
Lewis has been driving a Hyundai i30N TCR in both TCR UK and TCR Europe since 2018, in the last two seasons he has won the TCR UK championship and with a new Hyundai Veloster N TCR for this season hopes to make it three in a row.
The Hyundai Junior Driver Programme is aimed at nurturing young talented drivers in both disciplines to build their professional careers in motorsport both on and away from the circuit.
The six young drivers have been selected based on a combination of their performances in competition and their professional approach to motorsport during a rally or race weekend.
With the help and support of the Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing department the drivers can progress to compete at the highest levels running in the WTCR-FIA World Touring Car Cup or the premier class of the FIA World Rally Championship.
The selection of Lewis by Hyundai adds further credibility to the TCR UK championship with only two drivers being selected from the many TCR championship around the world ; it proves that hard work pays off and no matter how big your team is if you are of the right calibre you will achieve the recognition you deserve.
