Lewis Kent impresses at Sports 2000 Hockenheim

Date: 26th-28th April 2019
Track: Hockenheim
Over the weekend of the 26th-28th April 2019, Lewis raced the Steve Mole Motorsport Sports 2000 at Hockenheim in the Jim Clark revival meeting.

QUALIFYING
Qualifying took place on the Friday morning, with 50 cars in Lewis’s group representing various different classes from Pontiac Trans AM and Plymouth Barracuda at 8lt down to the Sports 2000 at 2lt. Out of all these cars the Sports 2000’s proved the best, with 6 of them in the top 8 of Qualifying. Lewis qualified in 8th place – not bad considering he had not tested at the circuit.

RACE 1: Race 1 saw Lewis move up a place to 7th, a position he held for 25 minutes, only to retire with an overheating problem in the final 5 minutes.

RACE 2: Having retired from the first race Lewis started 38th on the grid. However, he was soon showcasing his driving talent and the car, after being checked by Steve Mole, performed perfectly and saw Lewis finish in 7th place overall and 5th in class.

RACE 3: After Saturday’s fantastic drive, Lewis started 7th on the grid for the final race of the weekend. Now more familiar with the track, Lewis soon cut large amounts of time off of each lap and by the time the race finished he was 4th overall. The top 4 cars were all Sports 2000’s.

Many thanks to Steve Mole for the loan of the car and to his wife Sarah for her tea making, let’s do it again.
