TCR UK 2022: Report from Oulton Park | Race 1 & 2

Date: 15-18/04/2022
Track: Oulton Park

QUALIFYING
The first qualifying of the year saw Bradleys suffer some bad luck, after only 6 laps he started to have problems with the car and eventually had to pull off to the side and finishing qualifying with a retirement. Thankfully Brad put in a couple of fast laps before the stop to put him 10th on the grid. Lewis is still getting to grips with the new machinery he has been paired with this season and started the year with a P5 in qualifying giving him a good chance to fight at the front for the first two races. Scott entering his debut TCR UK Qualifying finished the session in p18 in front of 7 cars in his very first outing.

RACE DAY

Race 1: As the lights went out for the first time in 2022, our 3 Essex and Kent Motorsport drivers all had great launches off the line. Unfortunately after only two laps and having gained places, Bradley was forced to come in to the pits and retire the car. Lewis in his first race with his new car finished in 5th place despite struggling in the closing stages of the race as the team were still trying to perfect the setup of the Veloster N. Scott on his debut drove a brilliant race finished 14th, making up 4 places over the course of the race.

Race 2: Race 2 saw a first for TCR UK in a reverse top 10 grid. This meant Lewis starting P6, Scott starting P14 and Bradley starting P22. As race 2 got underway, disaster struck again for Bradley as he pulled his Hyundai I30 to the side of the track and retired the car. Lewis maintained in his start position to finish in 6th while Scott once again drove a great race gaining confidence with every lap and finished a respectable 12th to finish of the youngsters first weekend in TCR racing.
