TCR UK 2022: Report from Donington Park | Race 3 & 4

Date: 28-29/05/2022
Track: Donington Park

QUALIFYING
The second Qualifying of the year saw Essex and Kent Motorsport roll out onto the track after a hectic Fridays practice with Scott collecting Brad in one of the sessions and damaging both cars. After a lot of work over night the cars were ready to go and into action. Lewis Topped the teams drivers with a P6 in his Veloster – only three tenths of a second off pole position. Bradley with a beaten and battered car finished in P9 after the accident the day before. Scott bringing up the teams drivers in P15 in only his second meeting.

RACE DAY

Race 1: Race one saw Bradley drive through the grid from 9th to finish in 2nd place, with his brother Lewis following up behind him in third. However, a controversial decision by the clerk of the course saw Lewis awarded a 1 second penalty for something the team believes to be wrong. This meant he dropped to 4th place, while Scott finished in 10th. He really is improving every time he gets in the car.

Race 2: Race two once again saw the reverse of the top ten from race one on the grid which meant Scott would start the race on pole position. Unfortunately on the green flag lap, Brad suffered from an electrical issue, causing his third DNF in only 4 races. Once the lights went out and the race got under way, a poor start saw Scott drop down the field and get caught up in an incident at turn one. Despite an injured car Scott finished the race in P17. This did however allow Lewis to capitalise as he demonstrated his experience in Touring Car racing In making his way into second place after only a handful of laps. Unfortunately, whilst challenging for the lead Lewis made a great move around the outside of the leader only to be pushed wide and off track, forcing him to drop down and finish the race in eighth place.
