TCR UK: Report from Donington Park | Race 3 & 4

Date: 22 – 23/06/2019
Track: Donington Park

TCR were supporting a round of British GT’s this weekend and being alongside such a high profile series had its benefits. The paddock looked fantastic and the crowd was large.

In qualifying Lewis managed to put the Hyundai on pole for the first time and was showing that he was the one to beat this weekend.

RACE DAY

Race 1: Lewis got off to a fantastic start and over the course of the next 15 laps pulled out a 4 second lead over the second place man. On the final lap Lewis reported that his dash showing a warning that fuel pressure was critical and as he took the last corner he ran out of fuel having to coast over the line losing the lead by 0.6 seconds to a TCT car but still winning the TCR class.

Race 2: Race two saw Lewis starting from second position on the grid but with another fantastic start he was in the lead at the first corner, Lewis lead for 4 laps before reporting that the car did not feel right. Sure enough on the 5th lap approaching the hairpin a suspension mount broke at the rear and Lewis had to retire. Watching back the footage of when the breakage occurred, Lewis did a terrific job in keeping the car out of the barriers.

CONCLUSION
We go to Croft next, a track where last year Lewis was very fast. With the experience he has gained over the last 12 months we hope for great things (as long as we put enough petrol in the car).
