QUALIFYING
Having only been informed the night before that both Lewis and Bradley would have to carry and an additional 20KG compensation weight in their cars (due to their performance at Silverstone), the team were put under a bit of pressure. Firstly in having to find the extra weight and secondly this meant the cars had not been set up correctly for this weight difference.
The weight was added to the cars and qualifying began, with other cars not being as heavy meant both Lewis and Bradley struggled to compete at the front, finally qualifying in 4th and 5th places.
RACE DAY
Race 1: The race was difficult for both Lewis and Bradley running in 4th & 5th places for most of the race, at the end of the race the second placed man Jac Constable was given a 10 second penalty for a false start dropping him to 6th and the winner Max Hart was disqualified for an illegal car, promoting Lewis to 2nd place and Bradley to 3rd.
Race 2: With the top 6 starting in reverse grid order, Lewis started 5th and Bradley 4th. Both got away well and by the third lap Lewis was in 2nd position and Bradley in 3rd chasing down the leader.
On lap 5 Lewis pulled off a fantastic overtaking manoeuvre to take lead of the race and while the former leader was recovering from this Bradley moved through on the inside to take 2nd place.
Having a clear track in front of them they started to pull away but on lap 10 it was clear that Max Hart was closing the gap in third place. Lewis radioed to the pits that he thought Bradley was faster than him and he said Brad should go through to take the lead and he would fend off the charging Max Hart, this worked perfectly and on completion of 18 laps Bradley took his first win in TCR after only 4 races and Lewis finished 2nd pulling out a 1.5 second lead from Max Hart.
CONCLUSION
A fantastic weekend for the team, especially in the 2nd race, bringing home a 1st and 2nd place finish. Bring on Brands Hatch.
