Lewis is No.1 at the BRSCC Sports & Saloon Car Trophy

Date: 14th September 2019
Track: Donington Park
This was a British GT championship weekend and Lewis was invited to race in the BRSCC Sports & Saloon Car Trophy. Bearing in mind that the next round of TCR was also at Donington it seemed an ideal opportunity of getting some competitive practice.

Both qualifying and the two races were on the same day so with Bradley racing at Silverstone on the Sunday we went to Donington.

The races were to take place on the GP circuit a Track layout that Lewis raced earlier in the season. The grid was a mixture of cars including TCR, BMW M3, TVR’s and various sports cars, in qualifying Lewis was way out ahead putting his Hyundai on pole by a clear 1.2 seconds from a fast BMW M3 but with a rolling start in the races anything could happen.

RACE RESULTS

Race 1: The BMW who was second on the grid got the jump on Lewis at the start and lead going into the first corner with Lewis on his tail. Going down through the famous Craner Curves Lewis made his move, according to the timing screens Lewis went passed the BMW on the outside doing 131mph – a phenomenal pass in anybody’s books.
Once in front, Lewis just continued to put in fastest lap after fastest lap before finishing in first place. After 13 laps he was 16.038 seconds ahead and setting the fastest lap time of 1:36.972.

Race 2: Again the same BMW took the lead at the start and in a repeat of his move in the first race Lewis retook the lead on the first lap. As time was running out for the meeting the race was reduced to just seven laps, still enough time for Lewis to pull over a healthy lead of 12.888 seconds in a new fastest time of 1:36.780.

Well done Lewis, you showed you are a class act no matter what the opposition.
