TCR UK: Report from Brands Hatch | Race 7 & 8

Date: 27 – 28/07/2019
Track: Brands Hatch

Having had never raced the Hyundai in the wet before, the team had to guess as to what the set up should be. The bigger teams that we were up against therefore had a lot more information on wet set up than we did. This coupled with the fact that Lewis was carrying maximum success ballast of 60KG following his clean sweep at the last meeting at Croft, meant we were up against it from the start.

Lewis finished qualifying in a disappointing 5th place; 1.24 sec off of pole having struggled with set up and the additional 60KG he was carrying.

RACE DAY

Race 1: Lewis continued to struggle with the extra weight and although he got up to 3rd at one point, the weight affected the tyre wear and he finished 4th in TCR but still set the fastest lap.

Race 2: Having finished 4th in the first race, the success ballast that Lewis had to carry was reduced to 12KG. From the start you could see that this made a huge difference to the performance of the car and by the end of the race Lewis had climbed to 2nd setting a new lap record for TCR in the process.

CONCLUSION
Lewis has now set new lap records at all three of the UK tracks he has raced at this season and is in contention for the TCR UK Championship.

We are now on a break until the 3rd week of October when we complete the season at Donington.
