Date: 06 – 07/07/2019
Track: Croft
Lewis went to Croft full of confidence having been the fastest driver at the circuit last year coupled with the fact that he showed in the last round at Donington that he was more than capable of winning.
He soon demonstrated that he was right to have confidence in his ability by putting his car on pole during qualifying with a time of 1min 23.03sec – some 3.96 seconds faster than the lap record for TCR cars.
RACE DAY
Race 1: Lewis continued to show his class in race 1 by leading from the start, setting a new lap record and finishing 9 seconds ahead of the 2nd place man. Lewis controlled the race perfectly and showed maturity beyond his years with tyre management.
Race 2: Race 2 was just the same, with Lewis leading for whole race. There were two safety car periods but again Lewis showed how much he has improved over the last 12 months by ensuring he was never going to be headed on the re-starts and when he crossed the line he was 3 seconds ahead.
CONCLUSION
For Lewis and the team this can only be described as a perfect weekend with us coming away heading both the Drivers and Team Championships in TCR UK.
