QUALIFYING
During the break between meetings we purchased a reconditioned engine from Germany for Bradley’s car, in testing on Friday before the meeting in the wet Bradley looked fast and we hoped for great things.
However, this was not to be, as come Saturday on a dry track we found the car to be under par leaving Bradley to just go out and do his best qualifying 7th in class (VW).
RACE DAY
Race 1: Bradley again struggled with the performance of the car. Doing the best he could and looking to score Championship points, he finished 7th in class. The Championship leader crashed out damaging his car quite badly and allowing Bradley to move up to second in the Championship, and he was now only 14 points off of first place.
Race 2: Bradley had a slightly better race, finishing in 5th, but was now seeing the Championship slowly slipping away from him. If only we could have found the engine fault, we tried everything and changed just about every part.
Race 3: Bradley continued to try and get the best from his car and showed terrific driving skill around corners but lost out on the straight. With this continuing lack of power, he was able to finish 6th in class (VW) but had to settle for 2nd in the Championship.
Looking back over this short season (due to COVID-19) it was very successful for Bradley, who showed his true potential when given a car that works. Congratulations on finishing 2nd in the VW CUP.
